Certainty and detachment are at the heart of having a quiet mind. The mind talks because there is a problem to solve, a desire to attain or something unresolved. In other words, all is not well. Something must change for all to be well. The base perspective of enlightenment is that all is well. This perspective can be restored and you can ascend into quiet mind states through observation and contemplation of the biological functions of the mind. Which allows you to transcend the survival mind. I have labeled this process The Rapid Enlightenment Process. In The Rapid Enlightenment Process…

When you practice these unprovable dogmatic statements, your mind starts to go quiet and you become present to your infinite nature. If you are going to make things up, you might as well make things up that empower you and feel good. It’s not about right or wrong, good or bad. It’s about feeling and living. To make things more interesting. Each of these statements causes your muscles to go strong when you expose yourself to them. Not sure that means anything other than you are strengthened by these statements. 1. You are a soul which is just an aspect of…

There are two things I do to end each year. The first is to reflect on the things I am grateful for this year, the second is to dream about things I want to experience in the coming year. This is where writing a Prophecy Letter comes in. The cool thing about writing a Prophecy Letter is the extreme amount of freedom and fun it provides. But first, you have to get out of the past, stop trying to fix yourself, stop fretting over what you are going to do to have more success and happiness. In order to write your letter from…

The holidays can be difficult for a highly conscious person like you. For most of us, spending time with extended family is harder than we want it to be. Our objective for peace of mind seems to be thwarted by our families lack of interest in being at peace. Most of us are related to people who prefer conflict, gossip and playing the victim. Our family holds us to standards we didn’t sign up for and get upset when we behave in a way that is authentic. Here are some enlightened perspectives to help this holiday be the most peaceful…

When your mind is silent, love is your natural state. When your mind is silent, you are capable of deep appreciation and radical gratitude. Your mate, your lover, your spouse are whole, complete and perfect exactly as they are. From an enlightened perspective, your partner is just an expression of your interpretations. Love is your natural state.  Love is who you are. Love is experienced deeply in moments of no mind. That isn’t true for everyone. But if you are tuning into my blog, then you are a high conscious person and love is what is underneath the angst of The…

Over the last few years, it has become more evident to me that enlightenment is just consciousness seeking higher and higher states of order and efficiency. Isn’t that what peace really is? Enlightenment is just a very high level of awareness and acceptance of what you are aware of. At very high levels of awareness, you realize that we are all one thing. We are all connected. This creates the impulse to treat everything with care since you are everything and everything is you. You can see the interrelatedness. You can see that we are entangled in the background field…

I lowered the bar… and I raised my game! It’s a paradox. Okay, This is CRAZY! 554 days ago I decided that I wanted to do 365 days of Yoga in a row. Up until that point I had been inconsistent. It always felt like a burden or I couldn’t fit it in. I couldn’t get myself to practice regularly. So I decided to lower the bar so low that I could do it no matter what. I decided that as long as I did it for 8 min (which happened to be how long one of my favorite Deva…

When your mind is free from the clutter created by resistance, you are free to create your dream life. When your mind is free from the clutter created by resistance, agitation, annoyances, doubts, fears, and uncertainty… you are free to focus on what matters. You aren’t distracted by the mind’s obsession with looking good, being right, judging people, avoiding negativity, or being popular. All that suffering, caused by your judgments, subsides. Kristen and I are in the middle of a 3 week trip to Southeast Asia, thanks to our Spiritual Hooligan friend Manish Chanda. So far, the trip has been filled with a nearly indescribable amount of food, friends and sights (from profound poverty to incredible luxury… the contrast here is extreme). While traveling through Tibet in 2006, my mind went quiet after meditating for 16 days. The Drunk Monkey literally stopped talking, and for the first time, I experienced living with pure inspiration. Then, I got home. It was only through the specific, and deliberate use of muscle testing that…
